DROP/ADD Dates, 2021-2022

 

Add a course

 

Full Year:              up to September 30th

Semester 1:           up to September 22nd

Semester 2:           February 15th

 

The existing schedule will not be altered to add a new course to the student’s schedule. POS, p. iii

 

Drop a Course

 

Full Year:              October 1st through December 20th. After 12/20, grade will be WF.

Semester 1:           October 1st through December 3rd

Semester 2:           February 25th through May 2nd

 

Seniors may drop a semester 2 course in the same time frame as the fall semester. POS, p. iii

 

Practical and Fine Arts MAY be dropped during first five days of the course.*

Full Year and Semester 1: September 9th through September 15th

Semester 2:                        February 3rd  through Febru ry 9th

 

*After this window the dates are the same as other courses.

 

Courses may be dropped provided that students do not fall below the required minimum credits (30 for grades 9, 10, 11 and 27.5 for grade 12)

Students who over-rode must remain in the class for the first marking period.

NO new course may be added at this time to replace the dropped course.

Level Changes

 

  1. Students wishing to move down from an Advanced, Honors, or Advanced Placement level course can make this request following the issuance of first marking period progress reports. Students wishing to move to a lower level course must have demonstrated a significant effort to succeed through completion of homework assignments, class participation and contact with the teacher for extra help. Any course change requests must be supported by the teacher, department supervisor and the counselor.  Any changes are dependent upon space availability.  The student’s existing schedule will not be disrupted in order to accommodate this change.  Students placed in a course as a result of an over-ride request may not change levels until the end of the first marking period.  Students can make level changes no later than December 20th. If a student opts to move from an Honors or Advanced Placement course and enroll in a regular unweighted section of the course. The exact grade earned in the weighted course will follow the student to the new course.

 

  1. Students, who are clearly misplaced in a class as determined by department personnel, may be transferred to a more appropriate class after the third week of school. Students must have demonstrated a significant effort to succeed through completion of homework assignments, class participation and contact with the teacher for extra help.  Any course change requests must be supported by the teacher, department supervisor and the counselor.  Students can make level changes no later than December 20th.  Students placed in a course as a result of an over-ride request may not change levels until the end of the first marking period.

 

  1. Students wishing to move to a higher level course must have clearly demonstrated the ability to handle the more rigorous course work. Any such requests must be supported by the teacher, department supervisor, and the counselor.
